Job Overview
A Fitness Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of a fitness facility, including overseeing staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining facility standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of fitness and wellness program development, and excellent customer service abilities. Fitness Managers often work closely with personal trainers, front desk staff, and other fitness professionals to deliver a high-quality experience for all members.
Fitness Manager Responsibilities & Duties
Supervise and manage daily operations of the fitness facility
Hire, train, and oversee fitness staff and personal trainers
Develop and implement fitness programs and schedules
Ensure all fitness equipment is properly maintained and operational
Manage member relations and handle customer complaints
Conduct regular staff meetings and trainings
Monitor and manage the facility’s budget and expenses
Create marketing plans to attract new members
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Maintain accurate records of membership and attendance
Design promotional materials and run member engagement campaigns
Coordinate special events and fitness challenges
Provide excellent customer service by addressing client needs
Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the facility
Fitness Manager Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field
CPR and First Aid certification
Previous management experience in a fitness setting
Strong knowledge of fitness and wellness program development
Experience with budget management and financial planning
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in fitness management software
High school diploma or equivalent
Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification
Minimum of two years of experience in the fitness industry
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Ability to manage and motivate a team
Knowledge of health and safety standards
